Our Mission
our MISSION ACTIVITIES
PIWG was formed in 1995 to address critical turbine engine test-instrumentation development and sensor issues and to keep pace with the expected future needs of turbine engine development programs. Additionally, PIWG encourages U.S. commercial sources for advanced instrumentation in the turbine engine industry.

PIWG focuses on:

  • Identifying common needs.
  • Creating a strategy and vision to guide future research and development.
  • Speaking as a consensus voice to represent the turbine instrumentation industry.
  • Co-developing necessary technologies.

PIWG’s proven strategy offers vendors, universities, and government agencies a vehicle to understand turbine industry requirements, set marketing and development strategies, and adjust programs to maximize benefits and produce tangible results.

Our Mission
PIWG will provide efficient, effective technology development to:

  • Encourage closer and more productive ties among the gas turbine engine manufacturers, government research laboratories, universities, and instrumentation vendors by sharing instrumentation and sensor research and development.
  • Focus and coordinate propulsion-related test instrumentation research activities in the United States.
  • Promote advanced technology development and usage in the interest of improved instrumentation.
  • Establish U.S. commercial sources for advanced instrumentation.
  • Combine the expertise and capabilities of members to expedite the solution of critical instrumentation and sensor problems.
  • Address issues that relate directly to turbine engine ground and flight-testing.
